November is National 4-H Month and there is a lot to celebrate in Pictou County.   There are eight 4-H project club groups in Pictou County that include Hopewell, Middle River, River John, Salt Springs, SBI, Scotsburn, Sunrise Trail and Sutherlands River.  They have about 250 members combined and 90 volunteer leaders.  4-H is one of the world’s largest youth leadership programs that focuses on building life skills.

Pictou County members and leaders marked the month by supplying its supporters with homemade goodies as well as taking part in the annual 4-H Celebration and Awards program. There was also a county-wide church service and Pictou County will have float in New Glasgow’s Christmas Parade on Dec. 8.

One of its biggest accomplishment for 2018 was the completion of the new Legacy Building on the Pictou-North Colchester Exhibition grounds.  The Municipality of Pictou County donated $75,000 to this project which was also supported by community and in-kind donations as well as fundraising efforts by Pictou County 4-H.
